About N.I.S.T. Traceable Calibration

We can provide certificates of calibration with N.I.S.T. traceability (National Institute of Standards and Technology) on our line of stage micrometers and eyepiece reticles in this section (although reticles rarely benefit from calibration).

By calibration, we mean that after the part is manufactured it is measured with a precision piece of equipment that has itself been calibrated with a N.I.S.T. traceable test standard. These measurement results are then provided with the part.

PRICING
Some of the stage micrometers are offered as standard products in a calibrated version so please refer to the individual part number for pricing. For all others, the cost is $20.00 per point, 10 point minimum. A "point" is defined as one measurable dimension. For example, if you had a 1mm scale with sub-divisions every 0.1mm, and you wanted every division line to be calibrated, that would consist of 10 calibration points (0 to .1mm, 0 to .2mm, etc.).

CERTIFICATE OF CALIBRATION
After calibration, the stage micrometer or reticle is shipped with a certificate of calibration showing the actual dimensions measured, calibration equipment used, environmental conditions, N.I.S.T. traceable test number and certificate serial no. This serial no. is also engraved into the glass of the stage micrometer.

ACCURACY
The in-house specification of the chrome deposition process on our micrometers is an accuracy of +/- 0.005mm end-to-end. When calibrated, the calibration measurements have an overall accuracy of +/- 0.0004mm and a total estimated uncertainty of +/- 0.0006mm. The Calibration Department is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
